In Almere Buiten is het centrumgebied ontstaan in de jaren tachtig. In 1984 heeft het architectenbureau Spruit de Jong Heringa een gemixt plan ontworpen rond om twee open parkeergebieden met rijtjes huizen aan de een kant en appartementen boven winkels aan de andere kant. Aan het eind van de winkelstraat was een kantoorpand met vier lagen voorgezien. De aannemer heeft In 1986 hiervan de helft met alleen twee lagen gerealiseerd.

 

Het bestaande gebouw bestond uit een groot trappenhuis met lift, een supermarkt op de begane grond en een fitnessruimte op de 1^e verdieping. De constructie was opgezet als een betonnen grid systeem met kolommen en balken. De gevels bestaat uit geel metselwerk met donkere kozijnen.

 

In de laatsten jaren is Almere Buiten centrum verdicht met stoere grotere bouwblokken. Langs de Kopenhagenstraat staan vier verdieping hoge rood gemetselde blokken met gemixte functies. Op de Kopenhagenstraat 2 was volgens het bestemmingsplan ruimte om aan te sluiten aan deze nieuwe ontwikkeling. In Almere Buiten is er ook een tekort aan kleine betaalbare statersappartementen.

 

Ons plan was om de overgrote trap met lift te slopen, de fitnessruimte te transformeren naar 4 starters appartementen en met een lichte stalen- en houten constructie twee verdiepingen erboven op te zetten en een compleet nieuwe trap met glazen gevel ervoor te plaatsen. Om het gewicht te minimaliseren werken wij met een gestucte geïsoleerde gevel in de kleur wit. De donkere kleur van de kozijnen en de glazen gevel verbinden de twee gebouwdelen met elkaar. Ieder appartement heeft net zoals de bestaande appartementen een uitkragend balkon. De stalen constructie, de balustrade en het dakrandprofiel zijn qua kleur aangepast aan de kozijnen. Almere Buiten heeft er 12 startersappartementen in het centrum erbij gekregen.

 

 

 

The centrum of Almere Buiten is developed in the 80^th. Architectenstudio Spruit de Jong Heringa designed a mixed plan around two car parking fields with row houses on the one side and apartments on top of shops on the other. At the end of the shopping street the light brutalist architects planned a four level office building. The contractor build in 1986 half of the office building with only two levels.

 

The existing building has a big staircase with a lift, there is a supermarket on the ground level and a fitness studio on the 1^st level. The construction is made from concrete base on a grid with columns and beams. The facade is made from yellow brick and dark windows.

 

Lately new cool buildings are added in Almere Buiten centrum with four levels and red bricks. In the Kopenhagenstraat 2 there was space in the urban plan up to four levels and it was logical to close the gap on top of the fitness room and connect to the hight of the red brick building. There are a short on small affordable apartments in Almere Buiten.

 

Our plan is to demolish the big staircase with the lift, transform the fitness room into 4 apartments for starters and  close the gap with two layers made from steel- and wood construction on top of the concrete grid. To reduce the wight we chose for a stucco isolation material for the outside with black windows. The new staircase with a glass facade connected the old building with the extension. To all the apartments we add a balcony made from steel in the colour black like the windows, the staircase and the roof profile. Almere Buiten is 12 appartement for starters richer.
